Troubleshooting Common Issues
Common Issues and Fixes
My scan is stuck or won't complete
Scans typically complete in 30-90 seconds. If yours is taking longer than 3 minutes, the most common causes are:
- Your server is slow or unreachable: Our scanner needs to fetch your pages. If your server takes more than 10 seconds to respond, the scan may time out. Check that your site loads normally in a browser.
- Cloudflare or firewall blocking: Some security tools block automated requests. If you use Cloudflare, ensure Bot Fight Mode isn't blocking our scanner. Our user agent is "AdGateScore Scanner."
- The URL is incorrect: Double-check for typos. Make sure the URL resolves to a real page (not a redirect loop or error page).
If the scan still won't complete, try scanning a specific page URL instead of the root domain, or try again in a few minutes.
My score seems too low / doesn't match my expectations
The score reflects what our automated scanner detects, which may differ from your experience. Common reasons for unexpectedly low scores:
- Performance module: We test mobile performance via Google's PageSpeed API. Mobile scores are often significantly lower than desktop. Run PageSpeed Insights manually on your URL to compare.
- Content Quality: The scanner evaluates the pages it can crawl. If your best content is behind a login or requires JavaScript rendering, the scanner may not see it.
- Traffic Signals: This module requires your site to have sufficient organic traffic data in Google's CrUX dataset. New or low-traffic sites often score low here regardless of quality.
See Score Accuracy FAQ for more details on how scores are calculated.
I can't log in or access my account
AdGateScore uses Clerk for authentication. If you can't log in:
- Try the "Forgot password" link on the sign-in page
- If you signed up with Google, use the "Sign in with Google" button (not email/password)
- Clear your browser cookies for adgatescore.com and try again
- If you're still stuck, contact us with your email address
My PDF report won't download
PDF generation requires a completed scan. If the download button doesn't work, check that your scan has finished (status shows "Complete," not "Processing"). Try a different browser if the issue persists — some browser extensions can interfere with PDF downloads.
Scan results look different from last time
Scan results can vary between runs because external factors change: your server response time fluctuates, Google's PageSpeed data updates, your content may have changed, or third-party scripts may load differently. Use the Scan Comparison tool to see exactly what changed between two scans.
